Triple silken pumpkin pie takes the prize

What is the first thing that most people associate with Thanksgiving? Well, probably turkey, but pumpkin pie comes in a close second. As I am not a fan of the traditional pumpkin pie, I set out on a quest to find a delicious alternative this year. My search led me to a robust cookbook sitting on my kitchen shelves. Sheri Yard's Desserts by the Yard is an amazing compilation of a pastry chef's career spanning from coast to coast. What I found in that book turned out to be the most fluffy, decadent, flaky, scrumptious pie I have ever tasted. And apparently my officemates liked it just as much -- the triple silken pumpkin pie and I took home first place in last week's bake-off at our New York office! So if you're looking for a holiday-perfect pie, I encourage you to try out the recipe (PDF file). It takes a little time to make, but it's so worth it.Happy baking, and happy Thanksgiving!Posted by Kayla Wilson, Recruiting Coordinator

Migrate your JotSpot wiki to Google Sites

I'm excited to announce an easy migration option from JotSpot wikis to Google Sites. Users new to Google Sites can look forward to better performance and improved ease of use. Sites is tightly integrated with products like Google Docs, has much better wysiwyg editing tools, and is available in 38 languages. JotSpot customers should have received an email last week about this migration, and can read more about it here:http://sites.google.com/site/jotmigrationThe migration is an opt-in process which is initiated by the JotSpot wiki administrator. Wiki owners not wishing to migrate to Sites can export their data for import into another system. The JotSpot data center will be shut down on January 15th, 2009.Posted by Michael Nestler, Software Engineer

Adding some style to the wiki on Google Code

By Nathan Ingersoll and Jason Robbins, Google CodeBased on user feedback, we added a few highly requested features to the project hosting wiki on Google Code.To improve navigation from one wiki page to another, we added side navigation across wiki pages (e.g doctype docs). You can add a 'Wiki sidebar' by specifying the wiki file that describes your side navigation in the Administration tab under Wiki settings. To help navigate a wiki page, we added the ability to add a generated table of contents. To add a table of contents, just copy the following syntax to your wiki page.<wiki:toc max_depth="1" />Finally, to improve the style of your wiki pages we have added some html support. For more information on what html is supported, take a look at the documentation. As always, we look forward to your feedback.

Syncing your Google Calendar

Posted by Wen-Ai Yu, Support StrategistWe on the Google Calendar team work hard to play well with others, so you can synchronize your calendars with a number of mobile devices and desktop applications. This way, you can choose whichever calendars you want to use and keep all of them up to date. Got Questions? Try the new Google Mobile Help Forum

We know that with many Google products launching on an array of mobile devices, you're bound to have questions. And with all your experience using those products and devices, you're also likely to have some knowledge to share. Even though we've tried to make our help center as up to date as possible, you'll likely have even more questions that we haven't addressed yet. We can't talk to everyone -- there are millions of you! -- but we've been working hard to provide you with better ways to express your views and discuss our products. To that end, we're very excited to invite you to a housewarming party as our help community moves from Google Groups to a brand new platform: the Google Mobile Help Forum. The new platform was built from scratch to offer you some exciting new features:

Naturally, we're pumped for the move. We've got a dynamic system of levels to reward your contributions, and a profile that you can personalize. You can subscribe to the forum (or to individual discussions) by RSS feed. You can even vote on which responses answer the question best and mark a best answer to a question you asked. The new forum is just one step in our quest to build better products and connect you with one another, so stay tuned for more. As part of this transition, we'll archive the current Google Help Group, as well as the Google Mobile Community.
